Happy New Year 2010 LETS RIDE !

As in the past my first long ride of the year is when I go to Az. to see my Dear Mother. This year Stacie joined me .

Carson Mansion , Eureka,Ca.

They allowed us in to wait it out while they cleared the roads
We rode in rain, sleet, snow, blizzard, and winds that leave you so sore that some would give it up.For me it is still a ride and I take it for all it is worth . When I get home safe and sound then I know I had a good ride. Stacie hung in there and fought it all like a veteran who has done this many times and that is why I love her. Me I'm just too dumb to give in and say "lets wait it out"

30 miles N. of Mcdermott,Or we hit a blizzard, rode about 10 miles of it and had to stop. We had fought winds of 25-35 all morning , We looked left of highway and ODOT was there .

outside of Bryce , Red Canyon

More Bryce

Bryce Canyon

On the way to Bryce Canyon .

We did camp at Calf Creek just N. of Escalante. We awoke with 24 degrees and frost . Had a superb dinner of canned chicken with Herb/Garlic Noodles prepared by yours truely.

Boulder ,UT. on route to Escalante . Wanted to camp but snow was too deep and all were closed.

Red Canyon

Bryce Canyon , was spectacular with views that people dream about.

Near Red Canyon after leaving Bryce Canyon

Salt river Canyon ,wind was so bad I caught the 800 as it was about to go over.

Fort Bluff is in the town of Bluff , North of Mexican Hat.

Mexican Hat just North of San Juan River. There is a great Hotel (San Juan ) that is cheap and has a great view.

Monument Valley was just way too much to digest and take in. You could spend a week here and still not be satisfied. Highway 63 and 95 will give you whiplash from trying to see it all s you ride down the road.

We stopped at Kayenta ,Az for gas and Stacie found out what it feels like to have a truck back over her bike . She went down with it , luck was on our side , only a scrapped shin from her foot peg as it slid down her leg. Crash went the bike , wheel wasn't bent and after heated conversations we able to press on.

Skip 4 Corners IT IS CLOSED! Stacie remarked " they can post all rest areas with a closed sign before you get there , why not 4 Corners. Oh well 70 miles out of the way for not.

Oh C_____ is this a flash back or did the law finally catch up to me ?

Holbrook ,Az , Wigwam Village . This was a pleasant suprise and Stacie enjoyed it after a rough day fighting the winds that were said to be 20-25 mph.

Az. Sonora Desert Museum

Az. Sonora Desert Museum , just outside of Tucson
The flowers and cacti were awesome . A bit of rain fell which made for a cool day.

This woman at the age of 86 still has a sense of humor and I miss her dearly.

On top of the world in J.T.N.P. , ok it was just a big friggin boulder.

A Hotel receptionist informed us of 49 Palms and we just had to see it for ourselves. Great views and the hike was just icing on the cake . This is located just W. of 29 palms.

We visited family& friends along the way, all were in good health and it was nice visit even if they were a bit short.

We left San Jose our route down 25 took us through Coalinga and into Joshua Tree N.P.

Much to our disappointment all 550 sites were full.

A trip through the Avenue Of The Giants , before we headed into Ca across G.G. Bridge. Our next set of twisties were found on Skyline Blvd.

We rode down the coast , when we left it was 22 degrees . bitter cold . The sun finally began to thaw our limbs a little past noon.
