Oregon Discovery Rally_Wa. Sightseeing

Birds at the Mulheur Reserve , stopped here on the return ride from The rally. It was also after a State Patrol man flashed me ONLY with his lights. I was relieved and appreciative of his kindness. When I glanced at the speedo I was doing 85 in a 55 . THANK YOU .

Don't know it's species but it was a BIG BIRD . Kind of a hunch back if you ask me.

There were lots of different species at the reserve , also quite a few Pelicans but those were far from roadside .

We rode 75 miles down to Fields to see if indeed the shakes were THE BEST IN ALL OF OREGON. Here the man ( that's me) is taking the taste test. Let me first say Eric and I split a burger ,shake.fries and we were stuffed. The shake was great but 75 miles ,

These people actually keep track of their burger/shake sales for the year . Any other place and it would be highlighted in LED but here it is just old fashioned piece of paper or tape.

Fields Station great food and very cozy .

French Round Barn used in the winters to break horses for the farmers.

Diamond Craters , just huge craters left or caused from Volcanic activity.

Steens Loop on the North side , this road will be improved so more cars/tourists can drive the loop. The South side will be completed next and then we can kiss this Dualsport adventure good bye.

View from the top of The Steens . Elevation is 9670 , we rode the South side up and encountered some BIG ROCK's as well as hairpin switchbacks. The view is spectacular.

See what I mean ?

The temp had dropped about 20 degrees in respect to the valley floor which was an elevation of roughly 4400.

Eric found a great place to hang his helmet.

Are you taking a photo of me ? Guest's and host's at camp. Hey good looking what you got cooking?

Kendrick playing games , well he is just a young lad!

Scott slicing up some Dog's.

Gene and Dave discussing a route more than likely.

Mr Washington on display in the town of Winthrop. I had 2 or 4 days to kill before the rally so I rode up through Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Ranier,North Cascades Highway .

Winthrop , Wa. nice western style town and would be a great place to spend more time .

Now that's a great looking bike , only has 67,000 miles on it. Hardly ever gets ridden.

Pearrygin Lake State Park located 3 miles North of Winthrop,WA. Nice sunset to end a great day of riding .

Another view of the lake. I met an elderly gentleman there who was from Australia and he questioned if he needed to worry about Bears?

I informed him no worries, seems he had been in Bear country for the last 3 weeks and was relieved to be out of danger.

Another view from the S.P

This was on Highway 20 ( N. Cascades Scenic Highway) near Mazama at the Goat Wall Overlook .

Another view , was pretty warm at this point and getting hotter. I glanced at the temp. readout on Darth and it was 104.

Snoqualamie FALLS right off of Highway 90 east of Seattle,WA.

Mt Ranier a view from the White River C.G.

Out for a roundabout hike .

Only the shadow knows where to go.

Glacier Basin and this was supposed to be a 6.2 mile round trip. The first quarter of a mile was flat and then steady elevation increase. This here is a book to log bear activity in the area and there I was alone , and it was getting late. TIME TO GO!

Some fantastic views are to be had while walking this trail.

Must have a waterfall photo if you go to Ranier .

I met an elderly woman while on this trail and she doubted the length was correctly stated. I doubted her at first but when I did arrive at Glacier Basin I agreed. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape and the last 2 miles kicked my Butt. I was huffing , puffing, and hoping the heart would keep beating.

Camp set up in Ranier.

Great view of Ranier

Have you had enough?

Ohanapecosh Hot spring. I originally wanted to camp here , soak and upon inquiring at the Visitors Center the ranger laughed. I wondered why have a H.S. if you can't soak in it? She suggested I go look and was really amused.

Big Redwood with a time line .

Mt. St. Helens view from Windy Ridge. Quite a few fires in the area made it difficult to get a clear photo.

Darth taking a rest.

The white you see in the water are some of the trees that fell when the Blast happened.

Smoke with St. Helens in background.

Hope you enjoyed the show.
