BMW Oregon Discovery Rally 09_12

Here is the trusty steed Darth post my crash hardware removal from it and installing it on the NEW Blue GS. Looks sad doesn't he ? Darth has now been given a break and will be full time rental. I have enjoyed sooooo many miles and smiles with him but at 85K I thought it was time for a replacement.
My lovely wife and best friend in the world Stacie at my side , this was Joesph Canyon on Or. route 3 . Thank you Kevin for snapping this shot.
The road was about 25 miles up to Hat Point and there were many views to behold.
A couple (Monica and Oliver) again attended the event this year from Switzerland . Their sleeping quarters or perhaps HILTON is something to admire . Wow just think how much stuff you could throw in that and still be comfortable?????
Gather round the campfire and try to stay a bit warmer , naturally enjoy the conversations of each others ride and adventures from that day .
A church (Kirche) in Dayville enroute to the Rally.
Dinner time and The Russell's put on  a great feast again this year , want to know what it was ?
Well how about you join us next year and you can see for yourself.

Joseph Canyon on route 3 going North towards the WA. border . This is almost as magnificent as Grand Canyon and it is right out our back door. Doesn't get any better than that.
The mornings were Kewl but as the day lingered on it warmed up and I didn't hear one person complain.
It's all about the adventure and the elements are a big part of it.
Elevation marker at Hat Point Look Out.
Yours truely giving Kevin Max a helping hand securing his load on the KLR he rented from us ( oregondualsportrentalandadvenutres.com)
Kevin and Stacie goofing around at a view point enroute to Hat Point.
 Grand Ronde river
Snake River and valley from the Hat Point Tower.
 Hat Point Tower
That is Kevin WAYYYYYYYY up at the top. Smile Kevin!
Imnaha Post office , supposed to be the second smallest operating P.O. in the nation. Hey that is what I heard and since I've put it on paper(text) it must be true.
Kevin and his photographer Tim . Kevin is the editor of 1859 Oregon magazine . Pick up a copy and see what he has to say about our great state.

WAYYYYYY down there is Kevin and Stacie on route 3 . Lets say I ride a little fatser than some and had time to get set up for some ride photo's.
Kendrick and his Russian hat . I hear that Rssian is looking for him and he wants his hat back. Better be looking over your shoulder Kendrick
Joseph and a deer garden
I said lean right Kevin, lean right . This man doesn't have fear or at least show it. We were overly impressed with his riding ability and technique . You would never know he hasn't ridden since college. GREAT JOB . You can ride with us anytime!!!!
Another photo of Joseph canyon.
This is Larry and Beverly (Madelyn's parents)
I told Kevin , your wife will think you have a girlfriend since it is you and Stacie in all of these photo's.
Kevin , I want my wife back .... Thank you
Madelyn and this new fashion that has yet to be strutted on the runway. I hear she has a date set for Italy where she will strut her stuff!!!!!
Nez Perce sign located at Imnaha,Or.
Old barn enroute to rally , this is west of John Day
Old green house in Troy , Oregon . We didn't see one live soul , dog, cat NOBODY in this town.

The man from Switzerland Oliver.

The bikes are loaded ready for the trip. Oh and this is Bluez first voyage . Was a great debut.
Stacie tearing it up coming into Hat Point . Kick butt woman !!!
Looking like a dual sport rider should , dusty , dirty and ready to play.
Kendrick stoking the fire
Scott finally getting a break to enjoy supper . Thanks for another great O.D.R.
 Round barn enroute to Troy.
 Stacie erecting camp.
This a look that say's hey take my picture so I did . Makes her happy and it doesn't take much

Made in U.S.A. , hard to find such a thing in the present day.
The view from Hat Point Tower , which by the way is remarkable. I could almost make out KS. in the far distant horizon!!!!!!!!
The town of Troy, OR. Stacie and I had peeled off from our group and rode offroad from 3 . It was twisty and had a lot of switchbacks to keep us on our toes. Great ride and Troy was desserted at that time.
This was leaving Troy headed back in direction of Minham St. Park. We ended up making a few wrong turns and our return route was 50- 60 miles instead of the expected 20. We rode a ridge for what seemed forever BUT we had a blast and we hit camp in time for dinner.
On the way to Hat Point , again the views were fantastic .

Another photo of Troy leaving the valley.
National Bank Regsiter 1908 in Joseph, OR.

Bluez ready to ride and get dirty.

A Cafe we had lunch it was just over the WA. border on 3 and the Grand Ronde River was its neighbor.

We came upon this rural setting enroute to Troy and I thought that is perfect for a photo and hate to say it I was right . The freshly harvested fields made this photo , ok the 2 barns helped set it off.

  1. My wonderful husband, and best friend in the world! Great blog about the ODR. We really had fun! Too bad we didn't get any cow pictures. We sure had to negotiate a LOT of cows! ;-)
